Timor day 2: Island exploring

Wed June 8. After sleeping like a rock on a wood box spring, I was wide awake and jet lagged before sunrise. Jordan, Melissa and I had a glorious sunrise run along the beach, and talked to the old fishermen along the way.
We met some neat Australians at breakfast. Apparently Australia is pretty close. I just can't get over that amazing accent, I feel like a creeper eavesdropping on their conversations. One of them told me that we were sitting next to the Thailand ambassador. He was a solitary unassuming guy. During breakfast we watched the Mercy ship itself pull into harbor and drop anchor.
We then drove up to the point and hiked up to the Christus statue.
We saw dolphins swimming out in the crystal clear ocean around the clearly visible reefs. They say the reefs here are better preserved than the great barrier in Australia. I believe it, there's a ton of coral pieces washed up on the shore. After I was on the verge of sunstroke and carsick so I spent the last hour or so eating goldfish and staying in our air conditioned room. We board the ship in a few hours.
