Day 10: The Black Plague

June 17th day 10 on the ship
I guess it's inevitable that sickness will spread like wildfire on a ship like this. I woke up in the night so feverish that I couldn't hardly sit up let alone get out of the top bunk to go to the bathroom. I still went to work- mostly because I simply don't know how to call in sick here. If I was at home I would've called in sick. I thought I would improve after the day got started but after Tylenol and food it didn't. In fact it got worse and I had chills by the time I got off. Body aches, sore throat, sinus congestion, all together just about did me in. My only relief was our dear Kathys golden heart. She was kind enough to introduce me to Reiki, and it was marvelous. I must say after she did it my throbbing headache disappeared for the rest of the day. I'm a believer. Despite the illness I decided to take all the meds I have and go to the embassy to see what it was like. It was a nice cocktail party with yummy samples of the local food and the navy jazz band, who were extremely talented. I didn't get seasick and my fever broke right before we boarded the boat, so it worked out alright. I just hope this doesn't turn into a hacking cough, although I know it will. What a bummer.
