Right now I'm sitting in the back of a car, looking out the window at the beautiful Spanish countryside in Terragona. We're driving along the coast south towards Valencia, and it's sad to say goodbye to Barcelona, but exciting to discover somewhere new. Every little village has its own Spanish style cathedral in the middle of the town or at the top of the hill, just like French towns. In surprised how many hills there are, all peaked too. I've seen 3 castles so far, only one of which was complete still. White modern windmills have replaced Don Quixotes older versions on the hill tops. My Gypsy kings greatest hits playlist sets the mood perfectly, and the color of the pale rocks reminds me a little bit of the Uintas. Spanish style villas. Palm trees. Glimpses of the Mediterranean. Whitewashed stucco. Traditional acoustic guitar. Orange tree orchards. Misty montañas. I can't decide whether this gypsy king guy is singing in Spanish or Italian.
Why are these towns deserted? Now we're right up against the ocean and we've stopped to explore the shore and random interesting things, like the orange orchards, and the little towns in the coast.
And some feral cats.
Why are bikers on the road the only people we've seen so far? It must just completely shut down here when tourist season ends.

Castle count:6 Garrett said there was a cool castle that spanned 2 mountaintops, but I fell asleep at the end of the trip and didn't see it. I'm kind of obsessed with the castles, but I can't get a good pic they're too far away.
We had a chill evening and I ended up falling asleep a lot. I was kind of impressed with myself when the apartment owners were showing us around. I understood most of their Spanish.
