So I'm still on my "local tourist" kick and I'm trying to see my own state while I have the opportunity, which is turning out to be awesome! Utah is truly like nowhere else in the world.
I took off a random weekend in November to go home earlier this year, and then Chelsea and mom changed their minds after I had all that time off arranged so I had to figure out what to do with it all. Garrett came up with the brilliant idea of camping down by the white wash sand dunes and biking slick rock the next day. Well I was nervous beforehand cause it was supposed to be 34 degrees at night, but that turned out to be the easy part. We rolled in past dark on Friday night and picked a deserted area to pitch the tent and zip our sleeping bags together for the night. I was warm but Garrett wasn't. The next morning Garrett got up first and I woke to the sound of gunshots outside the tent. Garrett was practicing his aim. Eventually I got up and we packed up camp.
We headed out to the slick rock trail in Moab for some biking but I didn't know what I was getting into. That trail was waaay above my skill level. Ya pretty sure I hiked about half of it. After about 4 miles we called it quits and didn't finish the whole loop.
Arches was fun and we got to see all the major arches there. We also saw some minor ones like partition arch and Navajo arch, in addition to many others. I hope we can keep doing these fun weekends throughout the winter when its milder down south.
