1/26/17 She's here! May Victoria Maxfield was born at 1011 this morning, and we're both doing well. 6 lbs 3 oz, 18.5 inches. She had a relatively good delivery for a first delivery, although she did present face first, and tried really hard to come sunny side up. Our doctor managed to turn her to get her out after she was just centimeters from crowning for 2 hours. Her poor face was very swollen from the trauma, and the vacuum suction they had to use to pull her. I got an epidural and said many prayers of thanks for it because even with the low dose of medication I could feel a lot and it was very painful. She is a natural breastfeeder and caught on immediately. I was very emotional when I got to hold her for the first time. It was a very sacred time.

They're not letting me go home tonight because she had a slightly high bili from all the birth trauma. I'm hoping to get out first thing in the morning and get settled at home with her. The first night went well with her, although she seems to still be on the sleep days kick nights schedule she clearly loved inside of me. She fed like a pro though, so I can't complain. I was all adrenaline too so I had a hard time sleeping too. It hit me this afternoon, but luckily Garrett has worked so hard to make me comfortable and held her to keep her perfectly quiet while I slept for a long time. I think he actually enjoyed his first baby binge shopping trip to target that I sent him on. I love seeing his new dad excitement. We've had an overwhelming amount of love and support these past two days, and I've never been so showered with attention in my life.
